    RokBridge Features
    Overview

    Traditionally bridges for Joomla 1.0 have been a variety of hack's in both the Joomla and the forum code base, resulting in a precarious solution that was prone to break with updates on either side. This is no longer the case! With the integration capabilities of Joomla 1.5 we've been able to create a non-invasive bridge solution for the fantastic new phpBB3 forum package. This bridge runs as a Joomla application and provides registration as well as profile syncing.

    Features

    * Non-invasive Joomla 1.5 application
    * No hacks to Joomla or phpBB3 required
    * Uses Joomla authenticator and user synchronization system, which will allow for authentication via plugins such as openID, ldap, gmail, ...
    * Bi-directional syncing of registrations in either Joomla or phpBB3
    * Sychronization of profile data
    * Very little performance overhead compared to traditional bridges
    * Joomla SEF capabilities trickle down to bridged forum
    Help us finish RokBridge!
    RokBridge is going to be a GPL bridge between Joomla 1.5 and phpBB3. We're currently have an RC3 released, and have a list of 17 known issues with varying degrees of complexity. We desperately need some funds so we can allocate some development resources to work on this. As it is rockettheme has provided some funds already, and the rest has been done by Johan at joomlatools for no pay at all. We would love to be able to put more time into this project but it's really hard as it's a complicated one, and requires lots of time. Please, please help us out by donating to this worthy GPL project.

    Cheers,

    Andy
